Worship for the Elders and Staff
Long-term & Short-term Care Nursing Worship: The
call for diversity among worshiping elders in a Long Term Care setting
emerges from a desire among residents to be open and respectful of each
others beliefs. Maple Knoll Village, has no corporate religious affiliation,
is very sensitive about the various needs within the residents to have
their faith tradition acknowledged and affirmed. Many elders in LTC
settings are seeking a worship experience that create a connection with
the Divine that is personal and real to their current life experiences
and fosters loving relationships with other elders from a variety of
abilities, values, and needs. Every Friday at Maple Knoll Village three
services are held in the Bodmann Pavilion: 10:30 a.m. on the 3 rd floor
in the Dining Room, 11:00 a.m. on the 4 th floor in the Dining Room,
and 11:30 a.m. on the 2 nd floor in the Dining Room.
Christian Chapel Worship: Christian worship services
are held weekly and during certain holy days. The Maple Knoll Village
Chapel On The Green offers Christian worship every Sunday afternoon
at 3:00 p.m. Local clergy, many of which are our resident’s pastors,
provide the message. Local musicians volunteer to provide instrumental
and vocal music.
Inter-Faith Special Chapel Services: During the calendar
year there are several services that are inclusive of everyone: Thanksgiving
Eve, Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, National Day of Prayer, Annual
LifeSphere All Souls Memorial Service.
Memorial and Remembrance Rituals: We honor the memory
of those elders that have died within our LifeSphere family by having
intimate “Celebration of Remembrance” rituals throughout
the year. These services allow elders, families and staff the opportunity
to grieve together. The service often has special music, selected
readings and a reflection accompanied by a simple ritual that allows
everyone who wishes to share a favorite personal memory. Sometimes
photos or mementos are brought to share the elder’s story. In
addition to our smaller regular group gatherings, each year we gather
as one LifeSphere family to have an annual inter-faith memorial service
the first Thursday in November.
